Ingredients

  • 60g eggshell powder
  • 2g xanthan Power
  • 50 ml water
  • Vaseline

Tools

  • Scale
  • Measuring cups
  • Fork and spoons
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Mold or petri dish (optional)
  • 3D printer (optional)
  • Heat gun (optional)

step1: making xantham gum

Measure 2 grams of Xanthan powder and 50 grams of water.

Add the Xanthan powder to the water in small increments, mixing away the small lumps as you go. If you add all the powder at once, it is hard to get rid of all the lumps. Use a fork to mix, using a blender might make the mixture bubbly.

Mix until there are no lumps. This will result in about 20g of Xanthan gum.

step2: making eggshell porcelain

Mix the Xanthan gum with the eggshell powder using a fork or spoon.

Important: It is better to add the eggshell  powder into the Xanthan gum in small increments and mix along the way. Otherwise the mixture might have a hard time combining itself. In the end, the mixture should be a thick paste.

step3: option 1 - Molding

Take a mold like a petri dish and add a thin layer of vaseline to prevent the material to get stuck. Finally, put the eggshell mixture in the dish, use a spoon or your fingers to flatten out the top.

Image: In a 10cm diameter petri dish, the thickness is about 5mm.

step 3: option 2 - 3D Printing

add the mixture to the 3D printer and print your selected shape.

image: use a heat gun to dry the paste as it prints. This will prevent the shape to collapse.
